The Waterfall

"Who haven't you dated?" she asked teasingly. "Sorry, that's a bad joke."

"I've hit on a number of girls. I always feel like sort of a player." Justin said. "It's just I act too quickly and am too driven by emotions..."

"Maybe you should date someone you're close with that you know has an interest." Brae suggested, looking at him.

"I don't know if anyone else even has an interest." Justin said, trying to figure out if Brae was saying what he thought she was saying.

"Well, show a little bit of interest and see what happens. Your perfect girl isn't just going to walk into your life." Brae said. "You gotta put a little effort into it."

"There is one girl but I think she likes another guy." Justin said.

Hadley tries the hand positions again. This time shrub seems to come alive as it gives a little shake and buds and roses bloom.

Henry noticed Hadley and stopped to look.

Hadley doesnt notice as she tries the next spell.

Henry stayed watching with interest.

She finishes the hand motions, and the shadows around her turn to smoke, "Oh shoot that doesn't seem right." She mutters to herself.

Henry continued to watch, debating if he should say something or not.

Hadley flips through as the smoke turns into a black flame. "Crap." she says frantically looking for a counter spell.

"Need any help" Henry asked as he moved closer.

"Uh yeah, do you know how to reverse, a fire shadow spell?" She says as she continues to flip through the book

"Give me a sec" Henry said as he waved his hand over his book, suddenly the book let out a wave a purple fog which absorbed the fire and dissipated.

Hadley smiles a bit stunned and impressed, "Ok how did you learn that spell and where can I get the spell book?"

"It's something my step mother taught me, and the spell book is one of a kind" Henry explained with a smile "It's a collection of spells my step mother came up with or learned."

Hadley smiles, "Your Henry right?"

"Yeah, Henry Mills" He said as he closed his book and put it back in his bag.

"Think you could show me how you did that spell? Ive been practicing hand symbol magic and cant really seem to get the hang of it."

"Most of my magic involves runes, symbols, and channeling but I might be able to help" Henry said as he took his book back out and flipped to a tabbed page labeled fog of dispelling.

Hadley nods, "Alright. What's the complexity we're talking here?"

"The complexity is based off of your overall understanding and knowledge of the spell" He said as he draws a set of runes in the ground with a stick and watches as it glows and ignites in a small greenish flame. "With the flame I have studied the runic alphabet to understand all their meaning which helps as I use a different set I summon from the book" Henry explained as he slowly moved his finger across the book leaving a glowing purple trail in the air above  and once he was finished the fog surrounded the flame and the vanished "the runes for the fog come from the Elder Futhark, Algiz which can mean protection, and Ansuz which can mean wisdom."

"I'm sorry," Brae said. "That always sucks. I'm probably going to have to get over this guy I'm crushing on. I doubt he's interested."
